More On The Chief

Broadcast – More On The Chief

Last week on Powerful Truths, I made you aware of the “weighty” issue of Cincinnati’s police chief. All puns aside, it wasn’t my intention to offend Chief Eliot Isaac or any members of the Cincinnati Police Department. They do an outstanding job.

What concerns me, and should concern you, is the cops we are depending on to protect us are not always fast enough or strong enough to do their job. A study by the International Police Chief’s association found that running, jumping, climbing and lifting were essential for law enforcement, and those that perform poorly on these tasks put themselves and the public in jeopardy.

The hard truth is as citizens we should be concerned about the health of our police officers, and as taxpayers, about the cost of their health care. Cincinnati City Council must immediately demand physical fitness training for every member of the police force.
