Broadcast –My Daughter
I cried this week. I hate to admit it, but I did. My daughter, who’s not even 10, went away for a week. She’s spending the time on a lake with her friend’s family. She’s never been gone for more than a night before. If you’re the father of a young girl or a grown woman, you know how I felt. It was just seven days, but it seems like an eternity. It helped me understand the suffering dads go through when marriages split up and they only see their kids for a week or weekend at a time. Perhaps my Allie will never leave again, but the hard truth is I know better. There’ll be long trips with friends and eventually, college.
This is one situation where I didn’t want to face reality. I can’t wait for Sunday when she comes home.
