June 2, 2015 Broadcast – Cincinnati as Model
U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch was in town recently to praise Cincinnati as a model for law enforcement.
But, here’s something you didn’t know: It’s too bad she didn’t stick around a few more hours. The following weekend, eight people were shot – three died. The day I wrote this, a teen was shot and killed at 3 in the afternoon on a Walnut Hills street. Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell brags about progress here, but rarely talks about the brutal violence and senseless killing in this city.
Blackwell says his role is to improve relationships with the community. But I doubt those that live in our most dangerous neighborhoods are impressed that he travels the country sharing his progressive policing policies. I think they’d prefer the Chief focus on the killings in his own back yard.
